Personal Profile: Trish Kinahan

“I joined Hazlewoods in August 1994 after completing my A Levels.  Having gained an “A” grade at Accounting A Level, I started a fast track course through the Association of Accounting Technician exams and completed this the following year. Then I went on to study to become a Chartered Accountant qualifying in 1999.

“Towards the end of my training contract, I found that tax was the area I was most interested in. After qualifying I decided to specialise in this area and took the Chartered Institute of Taxation exams in May 2000 passing with a distinction, and, I’m proud to say, became the first person in Hazlewoods’ history to achieve this!

“Tax still remains the main core of what I do and is still what I enjoy the most. However I have been able to expand and develop it in association with my work in the Legal sector and with small businesses. It helps make a real difference to business performance by keeping their tax bills down to a level that they are happy with – and that is always the challenge!”
