The Corporate Finance team based in Cheltenham advise on:
- Financial Due Diligence
- Acquisition advisory
- Reporting accountants on AIM flotations
- Strategic review
The team works closely with a number of corporate acquirers and a large number of the London based Private Equity Houses and Nominated Advisers to AIM companies. Hazlewoods is nationally recognised for work in this area which is demonstrated by having won two national awards in 2009 for Corporate Finance work, in particular in the Health and Social Care sector.
Health and Social Care is a significant part of the work carried out by this team.
The role offers the potential for significant development and promotion for strong performers, with involvement in all aspects of the acquisition process.
Individuals will be responsible for undertaking detailed financial and commercial analysis of businesses reporting directly to the Partner/Director.
Work will involve completing financial due diligence and reporting accountant work (including detailed due diligence reports, long form, short form and working capital reports, as well as liaising with lawyers on the acquisition process).
The role will include:
- Developing an understanding of the target business and its drivers.
- Interpretation and analysis of financial and operational information.
- Review and analysis of historical trading, cash flow and balance sheets.
- Evaluation of the current trading performance of the business.
- Review and analysis of projections, and underlying assumptions.
- Review of the adequacy of working capital facilities, including consideration of financing limits, terms and covenants.
- Reporting of potential key issues for our clients including identification of risk or price affecting considerations.
Individuals will:
- Assist in due diligence/reporting assignments with a typical transaction value up to £30 million.
- Be involved in the production of quality detailed written reports within agreed timescales, briefing the partner/director accordingly.
The role may involve an amount of travel within the U.K. and will require flexibility to meet peaks of work inherent in the cycle of a deal. Assignments will require individuals to adopt a ‘hands on’ practical and commercial approach to work.
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate the following:
- ACA/ACCA qualified (ideally first time passes – may be waiting to complete final papers) and would suit a first time move from an audit role post qualification.
- Some relevant transaction services experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Broad financial and commercial experience.
- Report writing including use of Word, Excel and Powerpoint packages.
- Able to quickly identify the core issues from a large volume of data. Possess the commercial acumen to identify risk and/or potentially price affecting issues.
- Client focused, with a emphasis on quality/timing and accuracy.
