Hazlewoods advise on the purchase of BMI Regional

Hazlewoods recently advised Cheltenham based Sector Aviation Holdings Limited (SAH) on the acquisition of BMI Regional for £8 million. The Hazlewoods team was led by David Pierce and primarily advised on tax aspects of the transaction.

The sale deal includes all BMI Regional’s fixed assets, including its fleet of 18 Embraer regional jets. BMI Regional operates from 14 destinations in the UK and Europe and employs 330 people.

SAH is majority owned by Stephen and Peter Bond who had sold their Gloucestershire Airport headquartered Bond Aviation Group helicopter business last year.

David Pierce from Hazlewoods commented: "Hazlewoods were pleased to advise on the transaction and wish the owners every success. The air travel sector is highly competitive, but this acquisition gives BMI Regional the opportunity to build on its established reputation and to develop further its regional network with new routes.
