We are delighted to announce that we have appointed two new partners to the firm.

They are Mark Harwood, whose expertise is working with veterinary practices, and Nicholas Smail, who specialises in Private Client Tax.

Mark has been with Hazlewoods since 2003 and advises veterinary practices on a wide range of topics including profit improvement, tax planning, valuations, change of ownership and buying and selling practices.

He regularly gives lectures to veterinary professionals and banks on topical matters, issues and also speaks at Hazlewoods own veterinary day events.
Mark also writes articles for a range of professional veterinary publications including Practice Life, Veterinary Practice and Veterinary Practice Today.

In his spare time he enjoys running, motor sport, skiing and playing the piano.

Nicholas joined Hazlewoods in 2006, when he returned to his home county after starting his career with Proctor & Gamble and then joining a firm of accountants in Reading where he worked extensively with the bloodstock team.

Nicholas specialises in Private Client Tax, advising individuals on all aspects of their tax affairs. These include minimising income tax liabilities, capital gains and inheritance tax planning, and trusts.

Noted for providing practical solutions in a clear and concise manner, his clients include landed estates, family business owners and wealthy individuals.

Outside of work Nicholas enjoys riding, horse racing and spending time with his family.

Hazlewoods Managing Partner, Jon Cartwright, welcomed the appointments. He said, “We are all delighted that Nicholas and Mark have been promoted to become partners with us. Both have worked at Hazlewoods a long time and it is so well deserved."
