Purpose of role
We are currently looking for a qualified audit senior to join our specialist healthcare team at our Cheltenham office, which has recently won a national award for their work in the sector. This role is to be split to work approximately 8 months of the year within the Corporate Finance Lead Advisory team (healthcare), and the remainder of the year within the Healthcare Audit team.
The healthcare team is recruiting given the growth experienced as demonstrated by the significant number of transactions dealt with every year.
Audit and Advisory
You will be responsible for assisting the audit manager and partner in managing a large portfolio of clients including companies, LLP’s and partnerships, although predominantly corporate work for audit clients. These companies range from privately owned to large private equity backed businesses, giving the successful candidate exposure to a wide range of experience with some fast growing clients around the UK. The team has historically and continues to expand apace and this role gives a real opportunity for personal and career development.
The Responsibilities
- Fully supervise a portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for all aspects of their audit affairs and ad hoc project work as it arises
- Planning and carrying out audit fieldwork, statutory financial reporting and completion work
- Close liaison with the tax department and the ability to deal with tax computations and personal / corporate tax issues
- Undertaking work at client premises and liaising with clients, including acting as a point of contact for day to day ad hoc queries and enquiries
- Supervising and coaching staff
- Keeping managers and partners up to date with progress
- Preparation and updating of benchmarking data reports for use within both audit and corporate finance work
Corporate Finance - Advisory
You will be responsible for assisting the directors and partner with specialist assignments of a buy side and sell side nature, raising finance including projections, as well as sector research and analysis
The Responsibilities
- Undertake specific research and produce reports into sectors / geographical areas. Working with researcher to ensure that research and marketing is efficient and also to build a detailed sector knowledge.
- Follow up research with marketing approaches, letters, emails and calls, as well as the production of and delivery of pitches etc
- Analysis of data for documents to be produced and assistance in the production of financial models with underlying financial and operational assumptions.
- Assistance with other documents and reports including blind profiles and information memorandum for business sales, reports for share valuations, other ad hoc project based work.
- Assistance on management of the deal process on both buy side and sell side transactions to completion.
The Person – Skills & Qualifications
- Newly qualified ACA / CA / ACCA with up to 2 years Post Qualification Experience
- Experience of systems controls testing as well as substantive and analytical review auditing techniques, including consolidations, group audits, statutory accounts and disclosures and use of paperless electronic audit files
- Understanding the bigger picture as well as auditing individual balances
- Good working knowledge of UK accounting and auditing standards
- Well developed supervisory skills e.g. coaching and motivation of audit assistants
- Good project management techniques including decision making ability, analytical skills, time management, organisation, evaluative and administrative skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential
- Commercial mindset, lateral thinking and ability to focus on key issues whilst still being aware of detail.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with a growing department. Have a sound track record in meeting deadlines and demonstrate effectiveness within a team environment
- Experience of healthcare and corporate finance would be beneficial but are not essential.
