Larger corporate care businesses usually have clear exit strategies in place, together with the in-house skills and professional advisers to achieve this goal. By contrast, operators of groups of less than 500 beds often do not. A survey by the Health and Care Team of Hazlewoods revealed that operators of smaller companies often make their exit plans too late:

  • The majority said they had no up-to date exit plan in place.
  • An even higher percentage had no estate plan or will in place.
  • Less than half had decided how they might exit the business.
