Hazlewoods advise on the sale of Red Stack Tech to Data Intensity

Published: Tuesday 13 December 2016

Red Stack Tech is an award-winning solutions provider specialising in the provisioning of software, hardware and managed and professional services across the Oracle technology stack.

The acquisition of Red Stack Tech expands Data Intensity's global footprint, adding go-to-market and service delivery teams in the UK, Poland and Australia, creating one of the largest global, independent service providers in the Oracle ecosystem. Data Intensity's existing UK sales and service delivery team will join the Red Stack Tech team, under the direction of Alex Louth, Red Stack Tech founder and CEO, who will also lead go-to-market strategies across Europe and Asia Pacific.

“The acquisition of Red Stack Tech is a major next step towards the goal of providing our customers with best-in-class solutions and services on a global scale,” said Kirk Arnold, CEO of Data Intensity. “We can now offer our customers the reach and resources of a global organisation with the attention and personalised service of a local business partner. This becomes increasingly important as more companies are looking to shift their critical core infrastructure to the cloud, and they want a partner that provides the expertise, resources and support at a local level to give them confidence and peace of mind.”

“One of the primary reasons we decided to join forces with Data Intensity is our shared commitment to customers of making them our number one priority,” stated Alex Louth, CEO of Red Stack. “This transaction will provide our customers greater access to best-in-class resources, expertise and capabilities worldwide. We are encouraged by the positive feedback and enthusiasm our customers have expressed in response to this latest milestone.”

Hazlewoods were first engaged in 2010 to advise on the management buy-out of e-DBA Limited, led by Alex Louth, who took up the position as Managing Director. In 2013, the company expanded in to Australia. In the same year it made its first acquisition, UK Business Intelligence Specialist, Sol Stone Plus, which was subsequently re-branded 3sixty Analytics. In 2014, e-DBA and 3sixty Analytics were merged under the new brand Red Stack Tech. In 2015, Red Stack acquired Polish Oracle Partner, Gridwise. In 2016, Red Stack was sold to Data Intensity.

Hazlewoods provided ‘hands on’ support every step of the way, assisting management in developing and implementing their growth and ultimate exit plan, including:

  • Acquisition advisory on the Management Buy Out of e-DBA, to include fundraising;
  • Financial due diligence and lead advisory services on the acquisitions of Sol Stone Plus and Gridwise;
  • Taxation services, to include R&D tax advisory and long term incentive planning;
  • Audit and compliance
  • Disposal advisory.

Paul Fussell, Hazlewoods Corporate Finance Partner said “We have worked with Red Stack for over six years, providing a range of services from initial planning in 2010 to exit in 2016 and everything in between. We look forward to seeing the combined Red Stack Tech and Data Intensity business grow over the coming years and wish Alex Louth and the rest of the management team all the very best in their new roles.”
