One of the great benefits of the new expenses app from Xero, which is on early release to a select few, is the ability to use a smart phone to take a photo of a receipt.
The app incorporates OCR (Optical Character Recognition) capabilities and within minutes will create a transaction that can be sent directly to your accounting software. A copy of the original receipt will be saved alongside the transaction should you ever need to refer to it.
