This week, from 8 to 14 February, the country has taken part in National Apprenticeship Week 2021 – an annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships, apprentices and employers, with the aim of shining a light on this post-college career path and the various opportunities and successes it provides.
At Hazlewoods, we recognise that some people want to start their career as soon as possible, which is why our accountancy apprenticeship scheme offers an excellent alternative to university. Last year, we welcomed 11 apprentices who began their two-year AAT Apprenticeship and this year, our intake for September 2021 has increased, with seven out of 16 vacancies available.
Laura Hamlin, AAT Trainee, said: "I think the apprenticeship scheme offers a great opportunity to learn on the job and provides a much more hands on experience than I would otherwise receive at a university.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hazlewoods so far, and being with lots of other trainees has really helped me to settle in."
Towards the end of 2020, we also celebrated Chloe Witheford's success on being our first apprentice to earn AAT Level 4 Distinction, with only 3% of AAT candidates worldwide achieving a distinction at this level. This year, Chloe is looking forward to progressing onto her ACA qualification.
With positions in audit, tax or accountancy and business advisory, our trainee programme and apprenticeships offer professional, on the job training, combined with first class study support from our study partner.
