The Government has been subject to some criticism that there has been little in the way of measures to help support the self- employed. However, the following has now been announced by the Chancellor to support self-employed workers including:
- A delay in upcoming income tax payments until January 2021. This measure relates to the second payment on account which would have been due by 31 July 2020 under self-assessment for the 2019-20 tax year.
- Universal credit is now accessible by all self-employed individuals required to self-isolate and will be provided at the same rate of statutory sick pay available for employees.
