On Friday 13 September, our Staverton Corporate Services team tackled the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge in just 24 hours to raise money for our charity of the year Maggie’s.
The weather was definitely on their side as they began the ascent of Snowdon and so it remained throughout the gruelling 24 hours. It would have been even harder had it rained during their tricky descent from Cadair Idris. They made it back to the bunkhouse for a welcome hot meal at nearly 11pm. After just four hours rest, they drove for three hours for the final push up Pen y Fan with some almost sprinting back down to make it, with just fifteen minutes to spare! Walking the Three Peaks in 24 hours was a tough target and, for some, the hardest physical challenge they had ever undertaken.
Becki Copping commented, “thank you so much for all the generous donations for our Hazlewoods Charity of the Year, Maggie’s Centres. Watching our total rise as we journeyed to Snowdonia and climbed the peaks was the very best incentive we could have had. Seeing our total still going up now is definitely making our aching limbs and blistered feet feel better.”
