On Thursday 1 May at Cheltenham Chase Hotel, we hosted the Hazlewoods Charity Quiz night, in support of our 2024/25 Charity of the Year, Emily’s Gift. It was a fantastic evening of fun, fundraising and friendly competition.
This event marked the final event in our 2024/25 fundraising calendar, and it was wonderful to see everyone get so involved with 34 teams of Hazlewoods clients and business partners taking part.
We were delighted to have Julie Kent, Founder of Emily’s Gift, play the saxophone as guests arrived as well as share a touching and insightful speech about the charity’s mission to support children battling cancer.
Our quiz masters, Hazlewoods partners Martin Howard and Nick Stafford, kept everyone on their toes with 10 challenging rounds of general knowledge questions.
Our scorers, Megan Lewis-Bourke, Nicholas Smail, Krista Woodman, Stephanie Hayman, Adam Shearing and Hannah Webster, totted up the points out of a possible 250 in total, revealing the top three winning teams – big congratulations to ‘Blood, Sweat and Beers’, Ashbridge Partners, the One & Only’ and ‘Forthampton Four’!
We also had a fantastic raffle, with an exciting selection of prizes, kindly donated by local businesses – the raffle ticket bowl was overflowing!
We are thrilled to share that because of the unwavering support and enthusiasm of our guests, the Charity Quiz night raised over £4,000 which will get added to the overall total of our fundraising efforts during the past 12-months. Watch this space for the reveal of the final amount for Emily’s Gift…
All proceeds will go towards purchasing a blood sampling machine for the Emily Kent Unit (paediatric oncology), at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. This machine will eliminate the long wait for blood test results, which currently can take hours. A new machine would ensure that the children and their families receive results within 45 seconds, greatly reducing their anxiety and stress.
Thank you to all whom attended. This popular event will take place next year on Thursday 23 April 2026.
