As you may have seen or heard in the news, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) have concluded their market investigation and set out their final reforms as at 24 March 2026.
The main focus of the remedies is transparency, whether that is around pricing, options available, estimates or practice ownership.
The key remedies can be found on the gov.uk website via the following link: CMA concludes market investigation with major reforms to veterinary sector – GOV.UK
It is expected that practices will have 3 to 12 months to put all the remedies in place once the legally binding Orders on businesses are in place (expected to be by September 26), with smaller practices having 3 months longer than larger businesses. The proposed timeframes can be found here.
The report also includes reference to regulation and legislation reform which will be overseen by RCVS.
These remedies will be on the agenda when we next meet with you.
