Insurance Market Update

Published: Thursday 12 December 2013

As many of you will know, Ecclesiastical Insurance have for a number of years been one of the most prevalent insurers in the UK insurance market.  They have this week announced that as of 1 April 2014, they will be withdrawing from insuring care homes which are not registered charities.

We have been in discussion with David Walters (CHIS Managing Director) as to how this will impact the care sector. The reassurance is that current policies will continue to run, we believe, although there will be no renewal opportunity one suspects. As a consequence, it will be vital to speak to your insurance broker or, indeed, a specialist like CHIS, to assess how this will impact you in the future.

We suggest that it will be vital to discuss this earlier than one would normally start discussions on your insurance premiums.
